HOW IT WORKS

How does an Autism Assessment work?

A speech pathologist autism assessment includes an evaluation of a child’s communication and language, as well as their overall behaviour and social skills. During the assessment, the speech pathologist will ask questions about the child’s developmental history, watch them interact with others, observe their behaviours and communication, and evaluate language, including their pragmatic language skills. The speech pathologist may also complete additional tests to gain a better understanding of the individual’s communication and language skills. After the assessment is complete, the speech pathologist will provide diagnostic feedback and recommendations for treatment.
